19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

My name is Kyle Barnett and I am a 2nd year marketing major at the University of Florida.  My skills include creating new things, writing detailed analyses, and working in teams. Throughout my schooling I have learned about many different concepts that I can translate into the workplace such as financial forecasting, marketplace analysis, and managing teams successfully. My aspirations include graduating college and transitioning into a full time position or going and getting my graduate degree or possibly law school.  My product is a locker that attaches to the bottom of a desk and can be used to keep your belongings (such as your computer and textbooks) safe in the library while you take a study break and use the restroom or grab a quick snack.

To reiterate, the product I am offering to customers is a locker that attaches to the bottom of a desk to provide the most valuable thing that a person can have, peace of mind.  The issue that people have is that there is a looming threat that your belongings can be stolen.  This product can help people keep their things safe.

I am offering it to universities and public library systems so that it can be used for people in any type of library type area.  The people that use this can be of all ages and all socioeconomic backgrounds.  This product can potentially be for everyone.  Customers care about this because the possibility of losing your belongings is too great and too important to not take seriously.  What sets me apart from everyone else is that my product allows people to keep their valuables safe without having to bring them with them.

Feedback report
To summarize, I believe that the feedback I was given helped me to understand that this product could be for anyone of any age, not just college students.  Everyone goes to the library at some point and perhaps this product could make them go more.  Another feedback point that I received was that I could market it better by selling it to people to keep in their home as a new way of personal storage.  I changed these concepts in my second idea napkin.

  1. Key Kyle,
I am a fan of your business idea. It can be stressful leaving your belongings as a public desk for any amount of time, so a way to secure these things would be very practical. Adding public libraries to this and not just focusing on university libraries is a good idea as well. As you stated, many people go to libraries- even public ones. So that a good way to broaden your clientele.

  2. Kyle,

I really like your product and believe that it would be a nice, relatively inexpensive addition to all libraries and would add an extra layer of security to ones personal belongings. When I utilize the libraries, I often have to get up to take a phone call or grab water. I think this would eliminate the thought in the back of your mind of worrying about your belongings. I'd love to see you speak about implementation in the future.
